DESCRIPTION
Life Education is one of Australia’s largest non-government preventive health organisations, aiming to empower youth to see their fullest potential and build confidence for safer and healthier life choices. These educational animated shorts present a range of topics, such as showing an act of kindness and finding yourself. Videos taught to an audience of 9 to 10-year-old students (Grade 4) across Queensland schools.

01 — PROJECT DETAILS
The project aims to gain insight into their thinking, action and reaction to certain situations by providing valuable teaching experience and life lessons that strive to help them better understand themselves. It explores appropriate mental developmental themes with engaging, child-friendly and approachable visuals.
02 — CREATIVE PROCESS
During the pre-production phase, I actively collaborated with the client to understand their project vision and align on the overall approach. Utilising storyboarding and conceptualisation techniques, I crafted a compelling visual narrative and animatics that carefully honed in on central educational themes relevant to the target demographic. This meticulous process ensured a well-paced and impactful project, effectively communicating essential information to the intended audience.
Going into the production phase, I started designing the characters, props and background elements. The rigging was done with the Duik Bassel 2 plugin to bring the characters' movements and interactions to life. After the rendering stages, attention turned to crucial compositing and sound integration. This phase seamlessly combined frames and selected sounds, resulting in a compelling and immersive final product that exceeded expectations, crafting a captivating narrative.
This first animation shows how showing kindness to each other creates a figurative butterfly ripple effect that the giver and receiver can benefit positively with a sense of happiness and belonging.
Animation two focuses on the discovery and self-awareness of themselves by opening their minds to exploring their own emotions, thoughts and values by building resilience towards the unexpected through trial and error.
This final animation explores the transformative power of gratitude in appreciating others, emphasizing how considering their feelings can lead to meaningful chance encounters with lasting effects.
03 — RESULT
In summary, the project aims to explore a child's thinking, actions, and reactions in different situations, offering valuable teaching experiences and life lessons. Using engaging visuals, it navigates mental developmental themes in a child-friendly manner, fostering self-understanding and holistic development.
