DESCRIPTION
Following the WHO's (World Health Organisation) formal declaration of COVID-19, governments frantically mandated face masks, leading to a massive surge in supply and demand. This short campaign connects with like-minded, environmentally conscious individuals and promotes a positive behavioural shift towards our treatment of the ocean by challenging our current views and understandings.

01 — PROJECT DETAILS
Aiming to inform the public of the hazardous risks disposable masks pose to the environment already threatened by harmful pollutants, especially with ingestion and entanglement to marine life. QR codes are a call to action for further information, a similar method used during the pandemic.
02 — CREATIVE PROCESS
The gradual deep-sea tones give the illusion of depth, coloured within a coated Pantone palette for matte paper. The typeface Manrope utilises a strong typeface that ensures readability and contrasts effectively with the background of the illustration imagery, resulting in a versatile composition with bold and impactful characteristics to grab attention and make a statement.
Encouraging the viewer to be mind-opening with alternative options by designing a compelling visual metaphor of decaying plastic litter and fish skeletons creates a heart-hitting, morbid emphasis. The masks are index signifiers for jellyfish, which are typical for animals to consume mistakenly. The phrase "Going through their own pandemic" signifies the correlation between our global pandemic and marine inhabitants' current situation.
Material printed on eco-friendly recycled paper of 170gsm with soy-based inks so that the medium delivered reflects the message and values portrayed in the message. Thoroughly researched sources to back up the information on the brochure.

03 — RESULT
Drawing parallels between the global pandemic and the challenges faced by marine life informed viewers to consider alternatives and take action for a sustainable future even during the lockdowns. The visual metaphor serves as a poignant reminder of our environmental impact during the pandemic with the usage of disposable single-use masks. Likewise, using emerging trends such as QR codes assisted in effectively directing them to seek further information.
